Privacy notice

How we handle your family's data. Last updated 3 July 2026.

This page is maintained by Teach Me Miss to answer common privacy questions about our service. It is not a substitute for legal advice — please email hello@teachmemiss.com if you need more detail.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Teach Me Miss is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at hello@teachmemiss.com.

2. What we collect

  • Parent account data — name, email, hashed password, and your subscription and billing status.
  • Child profile data — first name (or nickname), year group and interests you choose to share so Cora can personalise lessons.
  • Learning activity — lessons started and completed, answers, reading progress, and conversations with Cora.
  • Basic device / usage data — pages viewed, browser type and approximate location, used to keep the service reliable and improve it.

We do not ask children for contact details, addresses or photos, and we don’t knowingly collect more data about a child than we need to personalise their learning.

3. Why we use it

  • To personalise Weekly Programmes and Cora’s teaching for each child.
  • To run your subscription and take payment.
  • To send you service emails (progress recaps, billing, important updates).
  • To keep the service secure and prevent misuse.

4. Cora and AI

When your child chats with Cora, their message and relevant context (e.g. year group, recent lessons) is sent to our AI provider to generate a response. We do not sell chat content, and we don’t use it to train third-party foundation models.

5. Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers we need to run Teach Me Miss — for example our hosting provider, our AI model provider, our email sender and our payment processor (Stripe). Each is bound by contract to protect your data.

6. How long we keep it

We keep account and learning data for as long as your subscription is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to handle refunds, tax and account restoration. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to how we use your data, and to receive a copy of it. Email us at hello@teachmemiss.com and we’ll help. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

8. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to understand how the app is used. We don’t use advertising cookies.

9. Changes to this notice

If we make a significant change we’ll let you know by email or in-app before it takes effect.
